About Me

Hi all! I am an accomplished Software Engineer and artist, looking to promote diversity in creative spaces and tech to make both the content we consume and the platforms we consume it on better.

As an engineer, I have experience primarily in REST API development and maintenance using Java and Python. I am currently looking for mainly software engineer roles, but am also interested in application software positions, full stack development and security engineering.

I've specialized in automating tasks/solutions and creating robust RESTful UI's to access tools and databases. My experience includes but is not limited to cloud security, multi-level performance testing, and front end development. I'm also capable and comfortable with presenting solutions to others and collaboration across teams. I’m always down to learn new tech, languages, and frameworks!

I've served as a leader of nVision Ministry's technology team as the Lead Frontend Developer for a time, and have also supported my educational institution's communities as the Vice President of my college's Coding Warriors group and as the Executive Advisor of the school's Black Student Union.

Outside of work, I enjoy making music and digital art, and learning new recipes to try out!

Experience

  • Shortened performance testing times across Java Spring apps by 80% by developing and deploying Slack bots that understand natural language used by engineers to automate multiple test runs and quickly return results within the Slack UI. Created the Natural Language Processor using Python to track and build a library of commonly used words/phrases for testing as well as run tests with specific parameters and generate performance charts.
  • Saved the domain >$90,000 in rollbacks in 2023 by creating Python scripts that intelligently maintain live versions of 100+ apps without removing existing pipeline logic for deployments, increasing safety and efficiency of app scaling across the org.
  • Improved codebase security across the digital team by 25% by implementing Python scripts to remove secrets from >100 files of JUnit test files and deployed code, and instead pull secrets from secure AWS vaults. These scripts reduced times to minutes and reduced the overall cost of data in the cloud.
  • Took responsibility for bringing all API's of the domain's teams to production by release testing all solutions created, ensuring the safety of 1000+ code files. After ample documentation and testing, the code that I greenlit went to millions of customers.

  • Designed and created the Black Girl STEM Brilliance program website utilized by students and teachers on a national scale. Proposed and implemented a stack that future college students and assistants could maintain with little knowledge transfer and minimal cost of development (HTML/CSS/JS/AWS/GitHub/Brackets).
  • Cut forecasted time and expenses for website hosting by 60% by reassessing goals and introducing AWS EC2 and S3 backend microservices into the tech stack.
  • Provided instruction in Github/version control fluency, responsive web development practices, and mobile app preparation for other assistants. Designed the current logo for the project with cohesion and stability in mind.
  • Planned and executed a Javascript-based hackathon for highschool girls, going from conception to ~100-student turnout.
  • Collaborated with highschool teachers to provide direct lessons in computer science for 80 students over the year.

  • Attracted 200% average weekly visitors + 1.3x greater tithe donations by creating a user-friendly and visually appealing frontend for the church's website.
  • Eliminated freezing during peak traffic during COVID quarantine by optimizing page assets and reducing load time. Cut out largely unnecessary forms and JS actions that the main user base didn't interact with when polled.
  • Organized sessions for church's youth interested in tech to contribute assets to the webpages and learn about version control, resume building, and coding challenges.

  • Reduced diagnosis time for critical application issues by 50% with experimental Elastic Stack centralized logging tool, Kibana Vega. Solving an issue that management was told couldn't be solved this way.
  • Positively influenced intern experience with the company by orchestrating multiple initiatives for summer interns to meet with upper management and other teams, fostering better connections and productivity in the group.
  • Successfully conducted knowledge transfer for 10 engineers regarding my product after learning corporate tech documentation practices with Confluence and Jira

  • Lead in creating projects, including interactive games and a team website, fostering a dynamic learning environment and enhancing collaborative coding skills for members of all skill levels.
  • Provided interactive lessons for coders of all skill levels to utilize Git and Github, HTML/CSS, and Python for group efforts and personal projects
  • Hosted coding competitions for the group to sharpen their skills with Java for game development and Github version control
  • Designed a sleek portfolio page for the group using Github hosting, HTML/CSS, and Bootstrap to build the site's elements
